Donations In Kind (DIK) is an activity of Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) Limited, that grew out of the compassion and concern of returning overseas volunteers.
This repurposing and reuse program, focusing on health and education, involves the collection, sorting, packing, dispatch, and distribution of donated to countries in need of these goods.
DIK currently receives hospital and school equipment, books, and much more that is being upgraded within our hospitals and schools.
DIK, using club volunteers packs the goods in containers and freights them to our neighbours in PNG, the Solomon Islands, and other areas of the Pacific.
The Rotary Club of Brisbane Taylor Bridge is participating in this volunteer roster at the DIK facility in 23 Mary Street, Kingston.
Every week on a Thursday, the Rotarians are sorting second-hand books for redistribution to the Pacific area, mainly PNG. We also collect spectacles and stamps.
On the first Saturday of each month, containers are packed for shipping to those recipients.
In 2020, DIK is nearing the1000 containers milestone, with a value of over $56m.
